Steam Bending Workshops

Shaping wood with steam is an ancient process that is simple yet fascinates both children and adults who have a chance to have a go a this project. If you would like to know a little more about how it works please read this.

And here is some more information for teachers.

This steam bent tree was made with the help of year 4 children at Copplestone Primary School. It is now in the school nature area.

''Our tree building experience with Julian was a huge success, the children were fully engaged and fascinated by the process of wood  steaming/bending. It was such a delight to see the tree forming in front of us and the children were able to take real ownership of how it grew. It now stands proudly in our pond enclosure, where we can decorate it as the seasons change and, perhaps with help from a bird feeder, encourage more wildlife into our school community! “
